Apr 13, 2012 - liked... It'll be nice to see her actually taken seriously. If there's a REASON for her to have a gun, and it works, I'll be all for it. I too am sick of bad comic book films. But I'm also a weirdo experimentalist, and I like artistic liberties. I say change the "grounding" of the film as much as you want, provided it still works for most people. Nolan's definitely playing more to the H-wood crowd, but I think he's doing an admirable job. I mean, he's still got me, and ComicBookGeezer...

overlordfombax Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Again, I don't love everything about the films. There are moments in Begins and TDK where I sort of grit my teeth at the choices made (usually in car chases). But I think there's a difference between being arguing against problems that you don't see as problems and obsessively dismissing EVERY problem, which I do not do. NONE of those problems are evident to me unless I actively search for them. There's a reason I can watch this movie over and over, and it has nothing to do with initial bias.

ThaHellBoundHeart Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - You've always come across as extremely biased to me. Often as more of a Nolan fan, than a Batman fan as well.

MsDANNY33 Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - hey bro look at Batman Returns...Penguin got changed ......and Catwoman was'nt a cat burgular....so why dont they have a right to change? look at Spidey...he got changed trough the years....so why not change them?We dont judge people for how they look...we Judge them for what they do.And what they'e doing is acting....

ThaHellBoundHeart Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Because Batman returns and Spiderman 3, which both had tons of villain changes have shitty legacys. I predict a poor legacy as well for the new batman film. It already has the fan community split and bickkering, it will only get worse.

MsDANNY33 Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Batman returns never made shitty legacy.... I watched it...it wasnt as bad as SM3 was....

overlordfombax Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Well, sorry, but I ain't. One only needs to see how jam-packed my house is with Bat-paraphernalia to see what I really am. The Nolan films are only a small corner of my interest. You can talk to me all day about the comics as well, but people are much more interested in confrontation. Can't we acknowledge that MAYBE someone can like both and not be biased? I don't have anything against you, man - I just don't like being equated to the scum of the net just for sticking up for my favorite movie.

ThaHellBoundHeart Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - You must not be active in many forums on the internet. Returns gets a considerable amount of hate.

ThaHellBoundHeart Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - The way you go about it is flawed. Favorite or not, if you're intelligent you can't defend blinldy against the undefendable. I wouldn't with my favorite films. The changes are subjective, but not all the problems are with character changes. You should detatch your feelings from the situation if you're going to debate.

overlordfombax Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Well, that's why I concede when I see something really sketchy. Cinematography problems in action scenes, for example, are sometimes undeniable in TDK. So, would I say Nolan is a master of action? Meh. Nah. Not by a long shot. But what does that do for the debate? I don't watch Nolan movies for the action, I watch 'em for the characters. And I'm still not arguing that TDK is cinematically perfect. I don't have the credentials to do that for any movie.

MsDANNY33 Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - The only hate Ive heard of was off Batman forever and The amzing Spiderman.....

ThaHellBoundHeart Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - LOL you must not talk to serious comic book fans. The original spiderman films are garbage, and forever is often talked the second best of the original four batman films. you've enevr heard hate on batman and robin? its considered one of the worst hollywood films ever made. Real spiderman enthusiast are nothing but hyped over the amazing spider-man. kids who grew up on the last films and have never read the comics hate on it irrationally with petty worthless attacks.

MsDANNY33 Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - I like Amazing Spiderman, the film has potential. But thanks to MWE, I get more people using his same examples to say the movie is going to suck....that's why some people hate him.... oh btw im not attacking you....but wtf do you have against people who liked Sam raimi's Spidey?

ThaHellBoundHeart Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - I have nothing against them, I have something against their irrational attacks on a film that is much more accurate to the comics from what we've seen in trailers and videos alone. Their knowledge on spiderman when they troll is horrendous though. goomba is all i see, racing stripe = fail etc etc. smartass spidey, with web shooters in a realistic non hippy love bug NYC looks awesome. Last time I check a goomba was a mushroom guy, and the lizard take was a bad change by a director of vision.

overlordfombax Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Agree with you there. I'm very psyched for this Spidey, and I don't know why he's getting so much hate. It's gonna be great... although I must say, I feel it's taking a few pages out of Nolan's book, with more of the Spidey vs. the law mentality coming into play, more of a city story. Don't mind a bit though.

ThaHellBoundHeart Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Its more like the comics, not more ike Nolan... this is a scenario seen in MANY comics before. Nolan did not create the cliche nor did he redifine it. No wonder I say you're more of a Nolan fan eh?

overlordfombax Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - No, I know that. Of course the comics did it. There are other elements in the new Spidey that I feel are more down-to-earth and serious than previous interpretations, not just that. I'm just saying that Nolan's take was sort of a game-changer for CBMs, and I see a bit of it in AS-M. I don't think it's pushing it to say that "Nolanization" has had a SLIGHT impact on what CBMs are allowed to be - i.e. something more serious than Raimi Spidey. Not total redefinition... but a part of the process.

ThaHellBoundHeart Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Say what you will about Avengers, but its going to prove you can be succesfull without overthinking and reimagining something that works just fine already. Remove Nolan from your thought process and just understand, TASM more like the comics, and thats it. Nolan and his character re imagining are going to hurt the genre more in the long run, Hollywood will see it as a success and reinvent more villians and themes in other films that do not require it.

overlordfombax Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Well, you can bet I'll be there for the midnight premiere of Avengers, although I do have some qualms with it, but that's neither here nor there. I actually agree with what you say about other films not needing reinventions. Like, a Nolanized Flash or something would just be a mess. But I think Batman is the perfect character to experiment with, because he's had SO many interpretations. He's one of the oldest icons, always adapting. If H-wood DOES phase Nolan's style out, it still won't ruin

overlordfombax Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - the Dark Knight Saga, nor will it make it suddenly NOT one of my and many others' favorite movies. I'm fine with less-experimental stuff being the mainstream, as long as I get my occasional out-of-left-field reimagining.

ThaHellBoundHeart Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - The thing is, Nolan is just pulling a Singer. Although he does it better, it is still not needed in my opinion. its subjective of course, but I do not dig it.

ThaHellBoundHeart Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Just a question. Is there anything Nolan could do, that would be considered going to far to you?

overlordfombax Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Well then I hope you find peace in the next reboot : )

overlordfombax Says:

Apr 13, 2012 - Yup. Having Bats murder, Punisher style... Erasing Bane's prisoner background... not have Catwoman commit any cat-buglaries... I mean, it's hard to speculate about it, but indeed, there are boundaries that I wouldn't want to see crossed. They're just less defined for me than they are for others.
