In 1942 and prior to graduating from Hampton University with an English Degree, and then Boston University's Graduate School of Public Relations with a Master's Degree, Dargan J. Burns, Jr. enlisted in the United States Army. Dargan served as a combat engineer building airstrips and other facilities needed in WW II in Guam, Saipan, and Tinian Islands that were very important on the Pacific Front. Burns went on to settle in Cleveland, Ohio start a Public Relations agency and raise his family.
